FFH Weekly Gems… Alex Monroe Rose Gold Earrings

My Garden

It’s official Friday is now #FridayFlowergram.

Amanda (The Online Stylist) kicked off the tweet fest with a snap of her lilac, hot pink and white sweet peas and stocks. My twitter friends Ms H Golightly & Sophie Osborne chipped in and before you can say ‘english country garden’ I pinned and tweeted a hand full of pictures from my garden.

Anya Hindmarch

The delicate flowers are candy pink and the blossom cascades down to form a kind of tassel (a botanical reminder to take another look at the Anya Hindmarch Fall collection).

Alex Monroe Rose Gold Swallow Earrings

Taking the lead from my style crush- the oh so beautiful Olivia P and her floral spread for the October 2012 edition of Instyle. This week the FFH Weekly Gem is Alex Monroes’ Rose Gold Swallow Leaf Hoop Earrings. Steer clear of harsh, neon brights and opted for more feminine shades. The curve of the hoop and tiny flowers have the same pretty vibe as the flowers in my garden. There’s something warm and comforting about jewellery that reminds you of home.

FFH Weekly Gems…. DJ by Dominic Jones

Dominic Jones

Dominic Jones is one of my favourite jewellery designers, his pieces are as fierce as they are fabulous. Anna Wintour is a huge fan and Dominic has won the NEWGEN Award 5 times, his designs are iconic and will no doubt qualify as investment pieces of the future. The DJ collection has all the quirky style of the main collection at very affordable prices. The gold plated, purple claw ring is only £75 and I just love it!

January Loves

January Loves

– Snowdrops are poking their little white bonnets above the frozen ground, reminding me Spring is on the way. Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb makes a great substitute, lifting my spirits with a burst of floral magic.

– Totally impractical mittens but warm my heart (and hands) because they are just so darn cute….

Miu Miu sparkly flats will have you skipping to work.

– If you haven’t written your Christmas prezzie thank you notes yet, shame on you! Send a Lanvin note and I’m sure you’ll be forgiven.

– Tea soothes my soul, settle down with this quirky teapot, put your feet up and laze the afternoon away in front of the TV.

– A cosy cashmere blanket is at the top of my wish-list, this one from The White Company is to-die-for!

– Perk up dull complexions with Bare Minerals Faux Tan Matte bronzer, skin can lose a little of its luster during the chilly winter months.

What caught your attention this January?

Fashion in 5 w/ ASOS Lauren Barnett

LB

ASOS has its little, bling encrusted finger on the pulse of fashion, so who better to give us the inside track than Lauren Barnett, assistant buyer at ASOS……

1. What’s on your wish-list at the moment?

A Saint Laurent fedora… I need to curb my hat addiction!!

2. Describe your own personal style?

Simple and less is more. I love a white t-shirt, my Tabitha Simmons boots and Levi skinnies.

tabitha Simmons

(these lovelies are on sale right now at Matches.com.)

3. Which trends will you be working this season?

A midi silk slip dress… layered with a vest underneath, fringed cardigan over the top or just on its own with flat sandals and Panama.

4. Tell us about your favourite dress and what you love about it?

An old Acne backless silk dress… 6 years old and still love it. Effortless and still in style.

BACK

5. Your favourite under-rated brand?

BACK by Ann Sofie… Amazing collections each season at a reasonable penny.

Thanks Lauren.xx

FFH Weekly Gems….Marc Jacobs Katie Bracelet

Marc Jacobs

Anyone who regularly reads Fashion Follows Her will know I can’t resist items adorned with my name. Call it Katie and send it my way………

Marc Jacobs seems to feel the same way too, the last couple of Marc by Marc Jacobs collections contained multiple ‘Katie’ pieces (and yes I adore them all!). This season Jacobs designed a Katie double strand wrap bracelet with signature gold turn-lock. The tough leather and chunky lock have an urban edge that is perfectly balanced with the quirky coral rock lobster/gold colour way. This little gem is on my Spring/Summer wish-list…

FFH Weekly Gems…… Lanvin

Lanvin 1

I love bold jewellery, give me fierce and fabulous over flimsy and feminine any day of the week. Just because a piece is bold does not mean can’t also be stunningly beautiful too. Lanvin the master of eclectic, quirky chic, designed this two-tone gold ring to add a pop of colour to any outfit. The over-sized flower ring is distinctive but not too harsh- perfect!

FFH Weekly Gems……Tom Binns

Tom Binns

This weeks gem of the week is inspired by the wintery weather. Tom Binns created this beautiful necklace from white and grey crystals, I love the asymmetric design. While it may be rather chilly outside, this icy piece will warm the cockles of your heart. What little gems have you discovered this week?

New Year, New Boots….Reiss Sale

Reiss Boots

I promised to show you my new boots and here they are……

As you’ve probably gathered I’m not that keen on joining the hoards sale shopping in store. I do always pop along to a couple of stores online every season- Reiss is one store I just can’t resist. I picked up these Kristina Prune Lace Up Boots, for almost half price- what a great way to start the New Year!

Reiss Boots 1

I have a couple of tips to share with you about online sale shopping:

– Always order a couple of sizes to make sure your garments fit- chances are if you have ordered the wrong size, they will be sold out when you go to re-order your purchase in a different size.

– Be brave, sale shopping is a great way to push your style boundaries but unlike shopping in store you have time to really consider if your new look is actually a keeper.

– Check out your favourite brands before the sale and note down (add to your wish-list) pieces that are usually out of your price range- you never know you may bag yourself a little bargain!

Have you been sale shopping this season?

Fashion in 5 with Kate Brindley from Liberty London

Kate Brindley

1. What’s on your wish list at the moment?

Just about everything! I love this time of year when all the sale stock is filtering out of the stores and new season items are arriving in droves.
Right now I’m desperate to get a new pair of Alaia shoes for showing off in – leopard print calf-hair sandals, a two-tone red and raspberry trench from Jonathan Saunders – that for once I had the foresight to do a personal order on, a Givenchy bowling bag in camel with red and black detailing – very 70’s Gucci, a Roland Mouret stretch pencil skirt in cobalt blue, jewellery from Kyle Hopkins and a Richard Nicoll colour blocked brocade dress.

KH

2. Describe your own personal style?

I like a major frock with a killer heel

3. Which trend will you be working this season?

I am going to embrace colour with arms wide open… Why the hell not? I also love a pencil skirt so will be doing those with slits in.

4. Tell us about your favourite dress and what you love about it?

It has to be my Alaia dress, I found it in the sale shop in Paris swinging on a rail… It’s not an obvious Alaia – ribbed mercerized fabric with a square neck ending just below the knee. Its killer and I know I will have it forever.

(Richard Nicoll S/S13 collection- one to watch).

5. Your favourite under-rated fashion store/brand?

I am a huge fan of the men’s store Anthem in Shoreditch – such an expert edit and it always looks so beautiful in there. In regards to brands I feel like Richard Nicoll should get more kudos than he does. 2013 is going to be his year, I just know it!

Thanks so much Kate.
