Bare Minerals High Shine Eyeshadow

Bare Minerals

No more messy Bare Minerals.

Bare Minerals High Shine Eyeshadow comes in a handy handbag size, spring-loaded tube, primed and ready to make your eyelids sparkle. Unscrew the top and the applicator pops out, a short brush with a cushioned tip that makes applying the eye colour a one stroke procedure. The brush is fully loaded with a high shine pigment that comes in 12 shades (I have Moonshine, a subtle plum hue), no more tap and swirl required with this product. You can build up the colour to create one bold, high impact shade or blend a darker matt colour into the corner of the eye to create a daytime look. I expected that the velvet constancy would of eventually slipped into the eyelid creases and wrinkle but I was pleasantly surprised that the eyeshadow pretty much stayed in place. I would definitely buy another one because it was easy to use and looked so pretty.

Mani Monday… Lets get nude!

Access All ASOS

Team ASOS know the way to my heart…. via fortune cookies, statement jewellery (more on that later) and nail varnish.

The lovely folk at ASOS sent over a welcome box of goodies to celebrate #AccessAllASOS. Nothing says ‘hello’ like a golden fortune cookie teamed with a new pot of nude Barry M nail polish. This shade is Mocha and comes in a matt finish but I couldn’t help adding a top coat and a spot of ring finger bling. Perhaps pastels may not be my cup of tea but nudes suit me down to the ground.

And my fortune ‘An opportunity to learn is on your horizon’…. and I can’t wait!

Fashion in 5 with Olivia Cavill

This week PR and marketing manager Olivia from Ciaté talks wish-list lust, Spring trends and which Ciaté colours you’ll find in her beauty box.

What’s on your wish-list at the moment?

I’m forever building my wish list on ASOS and have a tendency to over-order; needless to say I am a premier customer! I love mixing high-street with designer accessories, my Celine handbag is my most cherished piece but I have had my eye on the Alexander Wang ‘Diego’ for a while now, so it will definitely be my next splurge.

2. Describe your own personal style?

I like classic styles with a bit of a twist! My go to is normally a pair of J brand’s, my current faves at the moment are my J Brand leather trousers, with a plain top, paired with my pastel banana and peaches ASH wedge trainers. I like to update classics with statement jewellery; I am a sucker for a killer pair of earrings or a chunky cuff. As a beauty buff I like to keep hair and make-up fresh and polished, Becca being my all-time favourite make up brand.

3. Which trends will you be working this season?

I adore the pastel trend which is back again for Spring ’14 and was all over the catwalks, so I can’t wait to wear my baby pink ankle-grazing skinny jeans once the warmer weather kicks in! I’m also lusting after the Pop Art print trend and will definitely be buying into this as a Spring update.

4. Tell us about your favourite nail polish and what you love about it?

I am probably biased but of course my favourite polish is going to be Ciaté for its good quality, high pigment and long-lasting manicure, and its vibrant array of over 120 colours. My go to is always ‘Iced Frappe’ for a mauve version of a nude. For a more vampy, evening look, I turn to ‘Dangerous Affair’ for the perfect rouge noir.

Ciate Nail Polish5. Your favourite under-rated brand?

I love AQ/AQ for instant ‘wow’ pieces – the brand is a stylist favourite, which I still don’t think has had its time in the spotlight yet. I am also really excited to see the first Whistles fashion show at London Fashion Week this spring, not just because it’s one of my favourite stores but it’s incredible to see a British high-street brand to be invited onto the global fashion stage.

I couldn’t agree more, I can’t wait to see what Whistles come up with to wow us at London Fashion Week.

Thanks Liv

Christmas Gift Guide: Online Exclusives

Christmas shopping is the stuff of nightmares. Trudging around town on a wet Wednesday in your lunch break sucks all the fun out of the festive season. Online shopping is a god send for anyone short on time. And I don’t view shopping online as the lazy option compared to stalking the high-street for the ‘right’ present. Why not select items available exclusively online which means it’s unlikely anyone else will have bought the same gift, so no worries about doubling up on any presents.

A couple of weeks ago Selfridges asked me what was on my wish-list…. well here it is-

Ciate Mini Manicure

mani ciateLast year I missed out on the Ciate Mini Manicure Calendar, so this year I pre-ordered mine extra early. 12 days in and I’m loving all the different shades and sparkles. Below is the very first manicure using the new colours, Kiss Chase for the base coat, Mistletoe sequins and a clear top coat. The mini pots are the perfect size for trying new colours and I have 11 more windows to open!

How to wear winter white…

This post is dedicated to all the list making lovelies out there. Peer inside your handbag and if there’s a crumpled to-do list tucked into one of the pockets, it’s a pretty safe bet you’re a list making lovely!

A couple of times a year I try to bring order to the chaos that is my wardrobe. I’ve tried arranging by colour, type and even grouping together items I think would work well together. Fortunately a nifty little app called Cloth is about to go all Cher Horowitz on my wardrobe. Take a snap of your outfit with Cloth and save it with a tag, e.g work, date-night or weekend wear. Instead of checking your wardrobe, just open the app and scroll through your favourite looks. Or you could make it really simple and go for a one colour, winter white wardrobe. Here’s my favourite winter whites this season…

Mani Monday… WAH Heart Nails

Models Own

I heart Models Own WAH nail transfers.

Nail transfers never appealed before, why not just paint your pinkies with quick drying nail polish? Models Own teaming up with badass London nail studio WAH Nails for a little collaboration which caught my attention. I bought the cute heart design, great for special occasions. Application was fairly straight forward; peel off and stick on nail, file off the excess but I found that for anyone with a curved nail bed it isn’t quite that easy. To get a smooth finish with no bubbles gently fix the transfer to the middle of the nail, make two snips on either side of the sticker and ease down each side to achieve a neat finish.
