London Collections: Men A/W 2014

Nick Grimshaw GQ

From Dandy to Gandy, now Nick Grimshaw.

This morning the great and the good of British fashion gathered in London for 3 packed days of fine tailoring and innovative design- London Collections: Men begins. The bi-annual event is packed with a host of designers including fresh faces like Craig Green and Bobby Abley with high-end brands like Burberry Prorsum and Alexander McQueen. Over 130 designers will show at LC:M this season. London is renowned for innovative design and is home to some of the best fashion colleges in the world. Combined with the monumental heritage of Savile Row tailoring, it makes perfect sense to hold a dedicated menswear event in the city.

Although the Uk has a strong connection with menswear, the pursuit of fashionable attire fell out of favour during the industrial revolution. Assigned to women as a frivolous interest, mens fashion has been historically under valued. The direct value of the Uk fashion industry to the Uk economy is £21bn, something recognised by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson who’s launched a campaign to promote the £10bn menswear sector. An increasing number of high-profile men have stepped up as ‘fashion forward’ in recent years.

Forth to join a select panel of LC:M ambassadors is radio presenter Nick Grimshaw. Crowned Radio Personality of the Year at the GQ Men of the Year Awards 2013, Grimshaw is a regular on the fashion circuit. The ideal candidate to promote mens fashion I think.
