Warner Staycation: Not just for the oldies.

Staycation

About an hour and a half down the road from Norfolk lies Thoresby Hall & Spa. The historic pile looks like Downton Abbey and is full of beautiful architecture and antiques. Add in an amazing spa, a courtyard with bespoke boutiques including my fave jewellers and I’m a happy camper.

Thoresby hall

WarnersDon’t be put off by the fact the hotel is run by Warners. Yes the average customer might be 60 years old but this means it’s quiet, no unwanted attention for women travelling alone or with friends and the spa attracts ladies who lunch, so you’ll be in good company. Plus no children, not even in the grounds (where I found this little fellow)!

March by Numbers

Congham Hall

I’m not really a numbers gal, I don’t count calories or know the exact price of every item in my shopping basket. Some people are obsessed with facts and figures; sensible when applied to financial matters but far to easy to get caught up with calculations and miss the point. For March I’m breaking down the numbers and laying out the facts and figures, so here goes….

– 2 spa visits (one to Congham Hall at the start of the month and a speedy manicure at Thoresby Hall World Spa).

– 129 new followers on Twitter, I won’t mention the unfollows.

– 4 trusty notebooks on the go, you can never have enough notebooks- check out Liberty’s  stationery section.

Zara

– 1 new pair of Zara sandals in the hope of some much-needed Spring sunshine.

– 3 new pairs of jeans- thank you GAP for reintroducing denim into my life.

– 1 new job started, check out my first article for Scarlett London.

Spa Ritual Nail Polish

– 3 Nail polish shades I fell in love with from Spa Rituals– Bismuth, Emerald City and It’s Raining Men.

How did your March stack up?

Tis the season to Win, Win, Win…

Lulu Guinness

At this time of year I’m consumed with finding the perfect gifts for all my loved ones. Meticulous planning with a smidgen of good luck and my Christmas shopping is almost complete. Time for the fun bit…. the wrapping! As a self confessed stationery freak, I adores all the bows, ribbon and glitter involved in gift wrapping. With all that hard work I think a little treat is in order and there’s some seriously amazing competitions online right now. Here’s my five favourite.

Lulu Guinness has 12 days of gifts, give-aways and discounts. Lulu’s 12 Days of Christmas.

Win a £1500 beauty hamper with House of Fraser. House of Fraser.

Win a Mini Hatchback just like mine. Handbag.com

Countdown to Christmas with Jaeger… 12 days of gifts and goodies. Jaeger.

Win a Spa break with ELLE and Highland Spring, what better way to start the new year? ELLE.

Good luck! x

Jessica Nails… Strawberry Fields Forever

Strawberry Fields

Step forward the latest addition to my little Jessica Nail Polish collection- introducing Strawberry Fields.

As you’ve probably guessed I’m rather keen on Jessica nails varnish. Great colours and serious staying power keeps Jessica firmly in my ‘top three nail polish brands’ of all time. The pedicure I had last week at Thoresby Hall Spa is till pretty much intact eight days later (when you including the full body scrub and reflexology I had during the week this is not too shabby at all!).

Strawberry Fields

I opted for a bright pink shade called Strawberry Fields, apart from the sweet name I liked the zesty nature and purple sheen that brought the colour to life on my tootsies. My winter feet really needed to be perked up and revived ready for summer (yes it is on its way!). Naturally I went home with a pot of Strawberry Fields in my bag- would have been rude not too…..

Spa heaven: Part 2 Jessica Nails

It’s no secret I love a little pampering, in the past I’ve been accused of being spoilt but personally I think indulging in a few of lifes’ luxuries is good for the soul. A well deserved pedi has to be my favourite indulgence. Yes, I could ‘just paint my own toe nails’ (and often do) but comments like that can only come from someone who hasn’t had the pleasure of someone else buffing, massaging and polishing their tootsies while they relax, sipping a cup of Earl Grey and having a jolly good gossip.

Happy holidays

Today I received my holiday confirmation and I am more than excited- possibly because I know what’s in store for me……. having been there a few times before. I know Warners has a reputation for being a destination for your grand parents but if you are looking for a safe enviroment (I’m going with my mum for a girly holiday), grand surroundings, luxury service set in beautiful grounds, Thoresby Hall Hotel is the destination for you. The staff are fabulous and it doesn’t matter if the weather is awful- wine tasting, bare minerals make-up lessons or a scrumptious champagne tea anyone?! Continue reading
