I’m reading…. David Downton Masters of Fashion Illustration

David Downton

Reading is not my strong point, I rarely finish a book- I renewed my last library book four times before I finally gave up, admitted defeat and bought the audio version. I’m not the fastest reader, which is pretty frustrating when the plot thickens and I go into ‘skimming mode’ (which I’m actually rather good at) extracting only the vital facts. It’s a natural assumption, I write so I must be a bookworm too. I do love reading magazines, newspapers and blogs- the short bursts of information and witty articles suit me fine. Sunday wouldn’t be Sunday without me demolishing The TimesĀ into bite-sized sections, much to the annoyance of anyone who reads the paper after me.

In complete contradiction I always put a book on my Christmas list. Some things just work better in real form. Photographs and illustrations come to life on paper, need time to be absorbed, pawed over and revisited for inspiration. David Downton Masters of Fashion Illustration was last years ask- a stroll through the evolution of fashion illustration. The perfect guide by one of my all time favourite artists. I’d love to know if there are any books you can’t part with?
