Brand Intro: Muubaa

When all the planets align and the fashion gods agree, a brand that you admire makes contact and wants to collaborate- it doesn’t happen often but when it does, it feels like fate. So let me introduce you to Muubaa– a fashion brand that works wonders with leather, crafting pieces that are fierce but feminine, bold but not brash.

Leather is an investment piece but Muubaa moves past seasonal trends to create edgy items that will live comfortably in your wardrobe for many years to come. My current dilemma is whether to go bold and bright or nude and natural?

Which do you prefer…. bold and bright or nude and neutral, I just can’t decide?

My Mulberry Fairy Tale…

Mulberry CompetitionAnyone wondering why I am so obsessed with online just needs to take a look at this….

Mulberry is giving one lucky lovely the chance to win a Mulberry bag of their choice…. the stuff of online fairy tales! Part of the bewitching Festive Fairy Tale campaign, all you need to do is name the Christmas story Allen Leech is reading, then select the handbag of your dreams- simple.

Mulberry Festive Fairy Tale

I haven’t had a chance to feature the winter campaign designed by Shona Heath until now. The illustrations are beautiful, snowy woodland scenes to celebrate the brands iconic English heritage. Nestled in the enchanting forest are gifts fit for even the pickiest snow queen. I’ve made my selection…. which one will you choose?

The ‘IT’ bag’s back….

Totes Amaze

Dust off your totes and much-loved ‘IT’ bags…. luxe handbags are back in style.

Legions of fashion editors heave a sigh of relief, it’s finally ‘o.k’ to carry serious arm candy again without being accused of being frivolous or out-of-touch with reality. The ‘IT’ bag phenomena turned sour as recession took hold of the UK and filthy rich WAG’s stalked the streets with this seasons ‘must-have’ bag in a different shade for each day of the week. A style statement quickly became the ultimate display of vulgarity in an era of austerity.

Jaeger Bags

The admiring glances I had once received turned into sneers and ‘she’s got more money than sense’ jibes but neither would deter me from carrying a little slice of leather luxury. Instead I view my not so little collection (maybe 10 in total and some were gift) as a testament to my ethos regarding money. It’s pretty simple- buy the best you can afford. I can’t quite figure out when saving has become such a dowdy thing to admit to? Growing up in a family who don’t really ‘do’ credit, you learn to save until you can afford to buy what you want and then treasure the item when it finally becomes yours.

I’m looking forward to carrying my lush totes again but more than that, I can’t wait to see this trend in action and all the lust worthy bags instore.

Fashion in 5… with Gayle Griffith, House of Fraser

Press Officer at House of Fraser, Gayle Griffith stops by to talk trends, wish-list lust & forever favourites.

1. What’s on your wish-list at the moment?

This season I’m planning a trip to our Glasgow store and I’m hoping to buy Acne’s floral printed sweatshirt, one of Marcus Lupfer’s adorable jumpers (below) and a green Sophie Hulme tote. I got a black envelope clutch this season which goes with everything and I take it with me everywhere. I’m also lusting after Saint Laurent’s leather trimmed blazer but that will unfortunately have to stay on my wish-list as it’s over £2000!!

2. Describe your own personal style?

I like to keep things simple. Skinny jeans or a leather pencil skirt that’s my uniform and then I dress them up. I don’t like anything too restricting as I like to be able to run around and get things done. I adore dressing up a plain T-shirt and I’ve spent years trying to find the perfect one. I think that Gap have really nailed it with theirs.

My favourite accessory is a clutch bag, I love the freedom of having everything you need in one tiny bag and not having to lug around everything you own.

(something I wish I could master!)

3. Which trends will you be working this season?

I’m always divided by the trends. Sweaters with skirts are going to be big, so nothing much will change with me. I’m excited that pink is making an appearance again and I can’t wait to wear it.

4. Tell us about your favourite dress and what you love about it?

I don’t wear dresses as much as I used to but I just bought this yellow dress (above) from Whistles. I love the chic lines and flattering cut. I’m wearing it to a wedding this month but I know I can recycle it into my work wardrobe. I’m thinking of wearing it with silver and white accessories and my dishevelled Rick Owens leather jacket.

5. Your favourite under-rated brand?

I adore IRO which has become more well-known over the last couple of years. Their boucle jackets are just gorgeous. I also love Agi & Sam’s menswear collections. Their use of colour and print is really brave but still wearable and I think that they are going to be huge!

Thanks for the tips Gayle.xx

Next Blogger

Next have brought back their Next Guest Blogger competition and I have decided to give it a bash and enter.

Picking the question to answer was easy- which Spring trend are you most looking forward to wearing? I had already planned to give pastels and clashing prints a go this Spring so all I had to do is pop over to Next and pick out a few of my favourite pieces. The hardest part was editing the collection down to one outfit! After much deliberation this is my look- think soft ice-cream pastels, rolled up jeans, cream tweed jackets, statement sunnies, lots of floaty florals and laser cut leather.

Fashion in 5 with…..Really Ree

Really Ree knows a thing or two about beauty and fashion……..check out her style.

1. What’s on your wish list at the moment?

I am desperate for a pair of red studded Chloe Susanna boots – I am in love with them! I won’t get them because they are nearly £900 which I can’t justify on a pair of boots I will probably wear to death. I am on the hunt for a good look-a-like though!

(Those are some fancy boots….)

2. Describe your own personal make-up style?

I love flawless-looking glowing skin, soft smoky eyes and glossy lips. Every now and then I love statement lips too.

3. Which trends will you be working this season?

I think my favourite trend of the season is leather – whether it is genuine or leather look. Loving full pieces, tees and jackets with leather sleeves and even leather effect nail polish. I’ll be throwing in lots of embellishment too – with studs and jewels.

4. Tell us about the product you just couldn’t live without and what you love about it?

Eye cream! I never leave the house without it! I love formulas that are light enough to tap over make-up for when my skin gets de-hydrated during the day. The Elemis Pro-Collagen Advanced Eye Treatment is fab.

(Why not treat yourself to Elemis Pro-Collagen gift set for Christmas…)

5. Your favourite under-rated beauty brand?

Head & Shoulders shampoo and conditioner. It is really great stuff! It makes my hair soft and shiny and keeps my scalp in tip-top condition. I can’t fault it.

Thanks so much sweetie.xx
