More Dash Than Cash

If you’re new to Fashion Follows Her I should probably point out this isn’t a blog focused on super scrimping and bargains, you may have made a wrong click somewhere south of The Frugality. Occasionally and mostly by accident, I stumble across a real steal that fits perfectly into the ‘more dash than cash’ category. My latest purchases fall squarely in that category- a new pair of shiny pink bow flats from M&S for the slightly ludicrous price of £3.99 down from £25’s.

M&S flatsPictured with a mix and match bikini from Tesco’s F&F range which is surprising good quality and quite flattering. Ideal for splashing about in the pool trying to tone up my thighs and bum ready for summer (the chlorine eats bikini’s for breakfast, they barely last a season so it’s not worth spending silly money on swimwear). Have you found any great buys recently?

Fashion in 5 with Emmy Twenty

Emmy Twenty

New Fashion in 5 for Spring.

Sharon Sunners quit her day job in the big smoke to launch Emmy Twenty. Ballerina pumps made from real leather that don’t break the bank… that’s my kind of girl!

1. I started Emmy Twenty because….

I had looked everywhere for leather ballerina pumps at a mid-level price point. All I could find were PU versions or very pricey leather ones, I came up with the idea to design my own.

2. What I love most about my job is…..

Whenever I hear great feedback from customers, that’s a massive boost to my day.

3. If I could start my career again I would….

Keep it the same. What woman out there doesn’t love shoes?!

4. Above all else I value….

My health. If you’ve got that, then everything else is a bonus. (Couldn’t agree more!).

5. This year is all about….

Flat shoes! They’re everywhere right now, and I’m sure the appreciation is set to stay.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness
If you’re feeling charitable purchase a pair of limited edition teal pumps, £5 will go to Ovarian Cancer Action as part of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Any excuse…..

Jaeger spotted on This Morning

This Morning

Casually watching This Morning last week I spotted my latest Jaeger purchase on TV. It’s a weird thing when you spot something you own on TV. It’s a kind of ‘oh that’s a nice dress…. hang on a minute, that’s MY dress!’ type moment.

Jaeger dress

News presenter Rachel Round was wearing a Breton stripe, navy and white knitted dress teamed with chunky heels. Here I’ve styled it with a red quilted bag and Mulberry flats for a cute winter work look. My dress is sold out but Jaeger have a cute navy stripe dress available here.

Fashion in 5 with Stripes & Sequins Grace Atwood

It’s pretty rare I find anyone as obsessed with sparkle as I am. Grace Atwood owner of Stripes & Sequins beats all other glitter girls hands down, with weekly DIY projects designed to put some sparkle in your life for less… I’m seriously impressed!

Ferragamo flats

1. What’s on your wish-list at the moment?

A pair of Ferragamo flats, a mirrored cabinet for my apartment, some thin rings to stack.

2. Describe your own personal style?

Classic with a little bit of edge.

3. Which trends will you be working this season?

Lots of leather, emerald-green and piles of jewelry.

(Steal Graces’ style and stack your rings sky-high, the set below is from ASOS).

ASOS4. Tell us about your favourite dress and what you love about it?

My favorite dress is a simple black Gucci LBD. I wear it anytime I have a big event or meeting and need something special to wear.

5. Your favourite under-rated brand?

Old Navy! I find so many great pieces there that don’t break the bank.

Thanks Grace.xx

Carven = Carefree Summer

These paisley-print Carven flats from in the sale. Pretty paisley patterns always remind me of last-minute summer holidays and exotic destinations. I’m hoping to wear these colourful flats through until winter to add a bright accent to my autumnal wardrobe.

When my new shoes arrived last week, I was super impressed to find such a beautiful box on my doorstep. I plan on re-using the box for storage as it’s just too lovely to throw away.

Atterley Road celebrate their 1st Birthday!

Atterley Road

Atterley Roads’ 1st Birthday celebrations start here….

This week independent online retailer Atterley Road turns one. A whole year has passed since I blogged about the launch of this little business with a lot of fashion clout (owned by ex-Jigsaw designer Katie Starmer-Smith, this was bound to be a stylish venture). And boy have they been busy; being voted 5th in Vogue’s Top 100 Online Stores is pretty impressive! So Atterley Road have reason to celebrate and with two weeks of competitions, giveaways and previews, their doing it in style! There’s an over-night stay for two at 5* luxury hotel Browns in London, an Allium B dress plus a 6 month supply of flowers & two £1000 summer wardrobe give-aways up for grabs.

Atterley Road 1st Birthday

As with all birthdays I immediately think of shoes. To me shoes make the perfect gift- indulgent, personal and with a bit of luck scandalously impractical. Here’s my Atterley Road shoe edit….
