Down at the bottom of the garden, among the birds and the bees, that’s where you’ll find me.
Scribbling down ideas and to-do lists in my trusty notebook, tapping away like a mad woman on my smart phone. It’s one of the few places I can find total piece of mind. Working from home has major benefits (working in your pyjamas, no awkward office politics) but the fact is you are at home. All the drama of family life, swirls around the house, most distracting. Yes I have an office, which comes in handy for ‘official’ business but my best ideas- the lightning bolts of inspiration, tends to strike when I’m relaxed and disconnected from the rest of the world.
Being unequivocally unplugged, as it turns out, isn’t quite so helpful when it comes to finding inspiration. Just checking a fact or doing a quick, preliminary search is practically second nature now. Being able to fact check and write at the same time speeds up the whole creative process and stops me wandering off subject. A great article is a combination of fresh ideas and reliable research. With a portable device I can separate myself from the rest of humanity but still have infinite resources at my disposal. So if you need me, now you know where to look.

New earrings… well I don’t mind if I do.
What better way to start the New Year than discovering, via twitter, that a lovely pair of dangling gold earring from Sushilla are about to drop through the letter box. And the best bit, I could choose which ever pair I fancied for free…. yes, absolutely free!
I selected a pair of gold Neha earrings with 3 labradorite stones strung from golden chains cascading from circular hoops. I think I’ll always have a soft spot for ‘Jenny from the block’ hoops, so these are a nice contrast between hardcore hoops and a more delicate lady-like style.
At this time of year I’m consumed with finding the perfect gifts for all my loved ones. Meticulous planning with a smidgen of good luck and my Christmas shopping is almost complete. Time for the fun bit…. the wrapping! As a self confessed stationery freak, I adores all the bows, ribbon and glitter involved in gift wrapping. With all that hard work I think a little treat is in order and there’s some seriously amazing competitions online right now. Here’s my five favourite.

Way back in July I made a casual comment on how lovely Tala (My Fash Diary) looked in her For Love & Lemons dress. This little comment, unbeknown to me, was the winning entry in Spotted on Celeb’s competition to win that very same dress. I’d pretty much forgotten all about it when, out of the blue Tala contacted me to say I’d won! I swiftly contacted Spotted on Celeb to claim my prize, unfortunately that particular dress had sold out *makes sad face*.
(Fran from MIC in my new dress)
But all was not lost…. I was allowed to choose another style from the Spring/Summer collection, although I wanted to select something similar to the one Tala was wearing. I opted for the Patricia Doves Dress by Ronny Kobo, not quite the same but the pattern is similar. A huge thank you to Tala and Spotted on Celeb. x
The luck of the Irish seems to be with me this month- the lovely folk at My Flash Trash sent over a Dublin City Girl bracelet as a prize.
The competition was in celebration of the launch of My Flash Trash Girl, the new range for online accessory e-tailer My Flash Trash (founded by Amber Atherton from Made in Chelsea). The bracelet features encrusted crystals weaved into cute coloured cotton which is adjustable. I’ve layered a variety of bracelets together to create a unique look, worn solo they have a friendship bracelet vibe but layered up with different textures and colours the look is more quirky cool.
A big thank you to Laura Whitmore who signed the illustration for me, us Irish girls have to stick together! xx
Luck be a lady and that lady seems to be smiling on me….
A few months ago I entered a competition on the lovely Tala Samman’s blog (MyFashDiary), commenting on how pretty Tala looked in her For Love & Lemons maxi dress and it turns out I’ve won the very same dress! I plan on styling the dress with boots and a leather jacket (photo’s to follow). I can’t wait to try on my new dress- a big thank you to Tala and Spotted on Celeb who are gifting the dress to me. Lets hope lady luck continues to smile on me….
