Cats the new cool

I’m a cat lady, there I said it, a bona-fide cat lover. A couple of years ago being a cat lady had connotations of ‘little old lady with more cats than friends and most definitely a spinster’. Fortunately for me the tide has changed, cats are cool. Man’s best friend is just that MAN’S best friend, for all those working women out there, a cat doesn’t jump up your McQueen with muddy paws, a cat lounges on the sofa waiting for a snuggle.

The King of cool Karl Lagerfeld publicly declared his love for his feline companion Choupette (check out this adorable video of Choupette for Net-a-Porter). While Vogue legend Grace Coddington saw fit to doodle Pumpkin, the rather fat fashion cat, on the surprisingly stylish Balenciaga Papier Tote to be sold at Fashion’s Night Out.

Charlotte Olympia kick started the trend with her divine Kitty flats last season, seen on the fabulously fashionable blogger (A girl, A Style) Briony Whitehouse and a firm favourite of fashion icon Alex Chung. Other designers have followed suit this season producing an array of feline accessories to tickle your fancy, how cute is this playful cat ring from ASOS– a steal at only £8. Tatty Devine have a sweet cat bangle complete with whiskers and check out Marie Mercie’s quirky straw cat hats channeling Parisian chic.
