Top fashion universitys ditch GFW

Graduate Fashion Week launches the cream of fresh British talent but there is a noticeable absence of 3 major fashion schools (London College of Fashion, Central Saint Martins and Royal College of Arts), who have chosen to host their own graduation shows independently.

Prehaps the shift into digital media by fashion houses such as Burberry and Louis Vuitton during LFW A/W12 prompted this move, colleges that save money by forgoing the costly option of showing at GFW can channel funds into producing an outstanding digital show which can be broadcast across the globe. Personally I’m looking forward to both, LCF will be streaming their 2012 show live on 28th June 2012 and GFW is currently underway.

UEL put on a particularly fabulous show, Aimee Wards’ collection inspired by underwater paradise shimmered, beautiful pieces transformed by corsetry details and intricate strips of woven leather into stunning garments, perfect for fashion forward stars like Jessie J.
